Artist Statement
My name is Jaidon Page.
My artwork focuses on simple but complex character artwork.
I create art because it allows me to express and write about characters that pop up in my head or other characters some of my own friends make. I just think it's a fun way to express my characters.
The main ideas or themes in my work are fun and creative and sometimes can have some somewhat serious tones, but mostly fun.
My art is inspired by many creators on YouTube, like Odd1sOut, Jaiden Animations, & Icecream, who all have simplistic art styles but have a great way of making it complex.
My style is a fun and simple style, something that anyone can recognize and understand.
The digital art tool I use is Procreate for the software I use to draw and outline my work.
My process usually starts with which character I use; usually it's Kai, my main character, for most of my drawings, but it could be any of them. Then I figure out the pose. Either I use a 3D pose website, or I find a pose on Pinterest. I go to town on it and make the best drawing I can with that pose. I use gradients for each of my characters so people can identify them just by a color.
One thing I want people to feel or think about when they see my art is that they can do art too. Instead of using generative AI to make art, people can use their creativity, their hard work & dedication, etc. My art is simple and easy to understand, so I believe people who want to get into art can look at my art and go, "Hey, I can do that."
What makes my work different or personal to me is that my work is personal to me because it's all the random ideas that pop up in my head; it's not really planned out. I just think, "Oh, that’s a cool idea.” So I do feel like my art style is different than many artists because of the simple but different feeling to it.
As an artist, I want to improve at storytelling with my characters because of the somewhat common stories, that’s all.
My goal as an artist is to make a full comic series for everybody to enjoy my characters even more than just social media.
